Students are going to propose a series of activities to educate their peers on budgeting, saving and spending. The five winning teams will be funded with VND20 million ($940) to execute their ideas.
“One of the most important aspects of being able to manage one’s finances is the ability to think and plan with specific budgets, goals and timelines. These are important skillsets that young adults, who are getting ready to move into the workforce, need to own,” said Sean Preston, Visa country manager for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
This year, for the first time, Can Tho and Thai Nguyen are added to the list of cities and provinces where the programme is held, next to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang.
In 2013, Visa and the CCVSA signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to deliver financial education programmes to students in Vietnam. Since 2012, Visa and the CCVSA have jointly organised road shows to promote financial literacy awareness and to teach students the basic concepts of spending responsibly while learning to save and budget wisely.
