Speaking at the event, Nguyen Hoang Long, chief representative of Viettel’s office in the United States, said 2019 marks the return of Viettel Group as the premier sponsor of the 18th MOSWC, which brings together contestants from every corner of the world to compete in the World Finals, including countries where Viettel is currently doing business such as Myanmar, Peru, Cameroon, and Vietnam.
In 2015, Viettel was the first-ever premier sponsor of the MOSWC world finals held in Dallas, and sponsored the Laotian and Cambodian teams to attend the world finals through two mobile networks (Unitel and Metfone) invested by Viettel.
“Viettel always pays attention to building a high-quality labour force that meets the requirements of a digital economy by providing the young with the technology solutions and products that they need. With that in mind, the company will continue to sponsor this competition and support more contestants in the countries where we operate, which, the company hope, will contribute to the development of education and technology,” Long said.

“Through this competition, Viettel hopes you will acknowledge the importance of computer literacy in your life and act as ambassadors to spread this message to the community, especially those at your age,” Viettel’s representative told competitors. “Microsoft Office is a foundational software with which you can convey creative ideas and set up bold projects in an effortless and professional manner, which are the first steps to creating an ‘unbelievable’ new reality. You may become an author of best sellers, a well-known professor, a successful software engineer – the whole world is in your reach. There is one thing I can be sure of: if the young are trusted and supported, they are capable of incredible things.”
After the speech of Viettel, Certiport announced the Microsoft Office Specialist World Champions in the Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint categories, culminating the most popular technology skills competition on Microsoft Office since its inception in 2002. Vietnamese student Tran Hoang Anh from Foreign Trade University, Hanoi has surpassed hundreds of thousands of competitors around the world to win the bronze medal for Microsoft Excel 2013.
This was also the only medal secured by the Vietnamese team at the world finals of MOSWC 2019. The team consisted of three competitors, including Nguyen Luu Hoang Anh (Microsoft Word) and Le Khang Hieu (Microsoft PowerPoint).
After the event, Doan Hong Nam, head of the Vietnamese delegation said that MOSWC 2019 is the eighth year in a row that the Vietnamese team has won a medal. According to the Organising Committee, each category has only one set of medals, including one gold medal, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. Therefore, this is a proud achievement of the Vietnamese team, retaining the national team’s position on the list of the world’s Top 10 best-performers.
