On a coastal tour led by the Vietnam Environmental Protection fund and renowned local designer Vo Viet Chung and benefiting the “Blue Ocean World” project, the gala sought to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the magnificence of Vietnam’s oceans.
It further included a variety of activities to benefit the community of the coastal Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
The “Miss Ao Dai” fashion show by Vo Viet Chung showcased the latest Ao Dai collection that was sewn entirely by hand to recreate looks inspired by Old Saigon at the turn of the 20th century.
A charity auction for three costume outfits was held to benefit the “Blue Ocean World” fund.
The Grand’s Board of Directors along with the 32 pageant finalists also volunteered in a nearby fishing village to educate the fishermen on sustainable environmental practices, such as releasing underdeveloped fish back into the ocean and discouraging fishing by dynamite.
The group also led swimming classes for local children from the province. These efforts were a continued part of The Grand’s commitment to its local community.
The Grand – which opened its doors last July, 2013 – has rapidly emerged as southern Vietnam’s hottest getaway, with weekends regularly seeing a full house as visitors flock to see one of the most talked about developments in the country's tourism history.
The Grand is also a world-class location to host events. Just two hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, the beautiful beach, golf course, and fully integrated resort serves as the ideal setting for special occasions.
