The event will feature 200 booths fun by 150 organisations and enterprises from Austria, India, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Spain, China, Taiwan, France, Australia, and Vietnam.

The booths will display the latest products and technologies in the water industry, and there will be networking programmes for organisations and businesses to share experience and look for business and investment opportunities. There will also be a cooperation signing ceremony between attending organisations and businesses.

The event will include four scientific conferences, including discussions relating to the draft law on water supply, sewerage, and drainage; sustainable management and operation of water supply and drainage works adapting to climate change; and smart, efficient, and resilient water industry governance.

Especially, for the first time, gender equality in the water industry will be open for international discussion. The programme is being coordinated and supported by the Asian Development Bank. It is hoped that after the workshop, units, organisations, and businesses will develop gender equality strategies to meet international standards.

During the event, the organising board will grant awards to outstanding young water industry experts and graduates.

Nguyen Ngoc Diep, chairman of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, said, “Vietnam Water Week 2024 will follow the success of previous events, worthy of being an international and regional forum for policymakers, sponsors, international organisations, and enterprises manufacturing, distributing equipment, machinery and technological solutions to have the opportunity to exchange, introduce, and transfer advanced technologies for the water industry."

“Experts and the representatives of domestic and international organisations as well as businesses will also discuss the situation of the water supply and drainage works and discuss solutions to enhance Vietnam's water use efficiency,” Diep said.

According to the World Bank, Vietnam's water use efficiency is currently over $3 per square metre, while the global average is $19 per sq.m, meaning the country is generating little value by using its water resources. Water use efficiency is measured by the amount of value (in US dollars) generated through the use of a cubic meter of water, based on economic, agricultural, industrial, and service activities.
