Hanoi – Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan met with Kubo Yoshitomo, Deputy Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam, on August 1 to accelerate a project connecting Vietnamese workers with overseas job opportunities.

Hoan spoke highly of JICA's support for the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA)'s state management and highlighted its commitment to joint projects with the agency.

For the project "Supporting to connect job information for Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contract", he called for closer cooperation to expedite its completion. This is to align with Japan’s recently-passed revised immigration law, replacing the previous technical training system for foreign workers.

Once the project is operational, it will provide comprehensive and accurate labour market information, and reduce intermediary steps and costs for workers, Hoan said.

He instructed the ministry's specialised units to continue working closely with JICA to agree on an optimal solution that meets the project's requirements.

Yoshitomo wished that in upcoming technical meetings, the two sides will reach consensus on the solution to accelerate the project's progress.

According to the MoLISA, the project is a joint effort between its Department of Overseas Labour and JICA, scheduled to run from 2023 to 2028.
