Vietnam International Bank (VIB) has launched the first line of white credit cards – VIB Super Card to empower cardholders, and personalise their experience.

With VIB Super Card, Vietnamese users can choose and customise card features according to their needs. For example, they can choose features to receive bonus points or cashback of up to 15 per cent of the transaction, up to VND1 million ($42) per statement period. More specifically, cardholders can change the spending category whenever needed.

The 15 per cent cashback of the transaction value is considered the most competitive rate on the market. According to a VIB representative, cashback is one of the features users are most interested in when deciding to open a credit card. The 15 per cent cashback will not only help cardholders optimise their spending but also stimulate shopping activity, encouraging cashless spending, and boost the economy.

Cardholders will be able to decide the statement due date, as well as to choose the minimum payment amount for each period. This privilege brings convenience to cardholders in balancing their monthly spending. They can also change the minimum payment limit during the first six statement periods of the card's life.

Moreover, cardholders can also choose their own last five digits of their card number, which can be their birthdays, anniversaries, or any number of their favourites. This is regarded as one of the outstanding privileges of this card line, thereby showing the personalisation prioritised by VIB when the bank designs cards to bring interesting experiences to its customers.

"To own a beautiful digital account, users need to pay a corresponding fee. With Super Card, we want to give that benefit to customers. This has not only followed the bank’s customer-oriented vision but also shown our creative efforts to bring an outstandingly personalised experience to users who have decided to choose a VIB card," said Tuong Nguyen, head of VIB's Card Strategy and Operation Centre.

A leap in personalisation

With the competitive advantage of 100 per cent digitalisation of the registration and approval process for credit cards from VIB, the Super Card is shaped as a pioneering digital card in Vietnam. From registering to opening a card, selecting features and changing categories during the whole life of the Super Card, cardholders can proactively do it here or on the mobile banking application MyVIB 2.0.

"This line of cards will be an important milestone in our personalisation strategy to bring satisfaction to every customer when they own their cards. With Super Card, customers can completely control the cards from the very beginning of forming the card according to their needs," Nguyen said. "This is a leap in personalising the user experience when the bank brings all the practical needs of cardholders to each feature of the product. This entirely changes the mould of offering traditional banking and financial products – selling what the Bank has into providing the service customers need according to their needs."

In Vietnam, VIB is among the top banks in terms of card growth rate and spending on cards for many consecutive years.

By the end of 2022, VIB recorded the number of credit cards exceeding half a million issued cards, an increase of 5.5 times compared to 2019. Total spending of Vietnamese through VIB credit cards grew 8.5 times, from VND700 billion (U$30 million) each month in 2019, to more than $2.7 billion each month in 2022.
