Vendors and stores in Hanoi go belly-up with COVID-19

A large number of stores on the streets of Hanoi are on the verge of bankruptcy as they are powerless to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak.

The usually bustling shopping and food streets in Hanoi like Ba Trieu, Trieu Viet Vuong, and Pho Hue are now deserted

Many shopkeepers said that their business was been affected heavily by the health crisis, with revenue dropping to untenable lows

Closing the stores and suspending lease contracts helped them save some the expenses

Some vendors asked landlords to cut the leasing price

A restaurant on Ba Trieu street announced closing temporarily until March 17

Clothes stores are coming out with bigger and bigger promotions. A shop owner said that these sales help at least partially ease her cost burden
