On April 17, Tan Son Nhat International Airport's new passenger terminal T3 opened for its first commercial flight. Vietnam Airlines flight VN1286, carrying 105 passengers, departed from Ho Chi Minh City en route to Van Don (Quang Ninh province), marking a milestone in the terminal’s commercial service debut.

The construction of T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport was completed in just 20 months. The newly inaugurated terminal is one of the key landmark projects celebrating the 50th anniversary of the national reunification.

The project comprises key components including the main terminal building, a multi-storey car park integrated with non-aviation services, an elevated roadway system in front of the terminal, and aircraft parking aprons. The total investment capital amounts to VND10.99 trillion (approximately $440 million).

The project is financed through a combination of Airports Corporation of Vietnam’s own capital (70 per cent) and commercial loans (30 per cent). It consists of one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total gross floor area of 112,500 square metres.
