Scorpions to show up at music festival in Hanoi

Veteran German band Scorpions will be special guests at the Monsoon Music Festival 2016 scheduled to take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi from October 21 to 23, reports Vietnamplus.

Vietnam is one of the destinations on Scorpions’ world tour to mark their 50th anniversary. The tour also takes in Japan, Singapore and China.

Scorpions are considered the most successful band in Europe. Their best-selling album Crazy World (1990) includes the song “Wind of Change,” a symbolic anthem of political changes in Eastern Europe in the late 1980s and early 1990s and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

It is one of the best-selling singles in the world with over 14 million copies sold. Scorpions have sold over 100 million records in total.

They have released 18 studio albums, 27 compilation albums and 74 singles. Six of their singles have reached number one on the charts in different countries.

The Monsoon Music Festival this weekend is starring a lot of foreign artists, including SaveUs (Denmark), Last Train (France), Rukhsana Merrise (UK), Kite (Sweden), DJ Julien Sato and VJ 100LDK (Japan), Goodluck (South Africa), Idiotape (Korea), DJ Brezel Goring (Germany), and Lands (Vietnamese American).

Local diva My Linh will be the sole female artist of Vietnam to introduce her project “Chatting with Mozart 2” with the band Anh Em.

Popular singer Tung Duong will also unveil his music project “Tree’s roots,” produced by musician Quoc Trung, the festival’s director. A young representative of Vietnam’s music industry is PBNation band.

Musician Quoc Trung said a few local young bands and singers will showcase their new projects at the festival.
