Standard Chartered Bank (Vietnam) yesterday opened its flagship branch in Hanoi with His Royal Highness The Duke of York attending the ribbon cutting to inaugurate the bank’s new branch.

The flagship branch is located at No. 25 Le Dai Hanh Street and is the first Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Priority Banking center in Hanoi. It will have extended working hours (Monday – Friday: 8.30 am – 7.30 pm; Saturday – Sunday: 9.00 am – 1.00 pm), dedicated relationship managers to look after both business and personal accounts, and experienced personal financial consultants to provide customers with the most suitable financial solutions.

Ashok Sud, chief executive of SCB said: “I am delighted that we will soon open a flagship branch in this beautiful Hanoi . With the opening of this branch, we will be able to attract more customers and at the same time deepen and strengthen the relationship with our existing ones.

The branch will officially commence operations by next month and will continue to provide innovative products and superior services to better serve the growing demands of local and international customers in Vietnam.”

This is the third time that SCB has been honoured to welcome His Royal Highness the Duke of York in Vietnam. In June 2006, he inaugurated the opening of SCB’s Ho Chi Minh City branch and in September 2008, launched the bank’s online banking service in Vietnam.

In Vietnam, SCB’s history can be traced back to 1904 when the bank opened its first branch in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City).  Following the official approval from the State Bank of Vietnam, effective 1 August 2009, SCB commenced operations in its locally incorporated entity, which is an important milestone in SCB’s development in Vietnam.

SCB currently has two branches and employs over 600 staff in Vietnam and provides a full suite of wholesale banking products and services to corporates and financial institutions. It also has consumer banking to serve individuals and small and medium enterprises.
