Russian treat awaits movie buffs

The Academy Award-winning Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears is among the movies which would be screened during the Russian Film Week, beginning tomorrow in Ha Noi's National Film Centre.

The film is set in Moscow between the late 1950s and the late 1970s and focuses on three young women who come to Moscow from smaller towns. It won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1980.

The Film Week is being held to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Mosfilm, which has been the largest film industry in the world for several decades.

Five other movies – White Tiger, Ivan's Childhood, Hussar Ballad, They Fought for Their Country and She – produced between 1962 and 2013 will also be screened in Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City from May 20 to 28.

The screening will be held at Ha Noi's National Film Centre from May 20 to 22; at Da Nang's Le Do Cinema from May 23 to 26; and in HCM City's BHD Cinema from May 27 to 29.
