Vietnam Airlines will give travel operators a discount of 40 percent on flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Haiphong, Danang, Phu Quoc and some other destinations, the national carrier’s office for southern Vietnam announced.

This promotion program, which aims to stimulate domestic tourism, will last from April 1 to December 31.

Vietnam Airlines is expected to join the HCMC Tourism Association in selecting certain travel operators to develop domestic tours for Vietnamese visitors.

To enjoy a 40 percent discount, tourist companies must book tickets 30 days in advance, and make a 50 percent deposit two weeks before the date of flights.

Under the program, the return ticket for the HCMC-Hanoi route and HCMC-Haiphong route will be priced at VND3 million per passenger, HCMC-Danang VND1.9 million per passenger, and HCMC-Phu Quoc VND1.6 million per passenger.

An official of The He Tre travel operator in HCMC, Tran The Dung, said the Vietnam Airlines promotion program will have a positive impact on suppliers of tourist services.

The price of tours of the north, heritage sites in the central region and on Phu Quoc island, are expected to see a 20 percent drop from currently listed.
