Music night to delight Hanoi audience

Two concerts, entitled ‘Cycle Franz Schubert’, will be held at the French Culture Centre, L'Espace, in Hanoi, on October 18 and 19, promising to delight Hanoi audiences with well-known works by famous composers.

The concert will open with ‘Suite bergamasque’, a soft and tranquil masterpiece by French composer Claude Debussy. Following ‘Suite bergamasque’ will be François Borne’s Fantaisie Brillante sur Carmen, Joseph Haydn’s Concerto No.1 in C major for cello, and with Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 2 in B-flat major, D.125 as the finale.

Under the baton of the talented conductor, Nguyen Khac Thanh, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) will perform the works and the event will also feature the participation of flutist Nguyen Dieu Hong and cellist Dao Tuyet Trinh.

Conductor Nguyen Khac Thanh was born and raised in Hue and began studying violin at the Hue College of Music (now the Hue Academy of Music) from 1985 to 1995, before he went on to study violin performance at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music). Following his graduation, he worked at the VNSO. Since 2010 he has been conducting chamber music concerts in Vietnam and other countries, such as New York, Boston (the US); Venice, Florence, Rome (Italy); Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya, Osaka (Japan); Moscow, Saint-Petersburg (Russia). Furthermore, he was also the main conductor of the "Luala Concert" in 2011, 2012, 2013 and the "Autumn Concert" in 2015.

Meanwhile, flutist Nguyen Dieu Hong has been a key member the Viet Nam Symphony Orchestra, performing at more than 60 concerts a year.

Cellist Dao Tuyet Trinh is the lead cello of Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. She has performed in many countries, such as Russia, China, the US, and Thailand and is also a member of the Red River chamber group, performing in America, Thailand and China. In 2012 Dao Tuyet Trinh was awarded with the Meritorious Artist title.
