Deputy Minister Truong Quoc Cuong visited a gauze mask manufacturer in Hanoi |
According to Cuong, with the serious scale of the nCoV epidemic, local demand for preventive equipment has been skyrocketing. Thus, the working visit aims to strengthen the production of gauze masks, protective apparel, and medical devices.
A representative of Tanaphar JSC said the company has the production capacity of 70,000 gauze masks a day. Since January 30, 2020, its workers have been working day and night to meet the growing demand.
A representative of Dai Uy Pharmaceutical JSC said that it has about six quintals of filters for gauze mask production. If its factories run at the maximum capacity of three shifts a day, they can produce nearly 100,000 units a day. However, this means they will run out of filters within the next ten days.
The company is seeking input material sources in the south, but it is too early to say anything for certain. In fact, the lack of input materials is now a thorny issue for local manufacturers.
The Deputy Minister said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is working to find sources of input materials in South Africa, Egypt, and India, among others, to ensure local production. While waiting for results, companies should be more active in searching for material sources.
At present, local production capacity of gauze masks is about three million units a day on average. This can cover local demand.
