After being overwhelmed by Shopee and Tiki in terms of visits in the fourth quarter of last year, the ranking of Lazada has yet to improve – it is falling farther behind e-commerce competition.

According to the Map of E-commerce in Vietnam announced by iPrice, in the second quarter of 2019, Shopee and Tiki retained their leading position in terms of traffic with 38.5 million and 33.7 million monthly, respectively. They are followed by Lazada with 28.3 million visits per month in the quarter, which is the second consecutive quarterthe platform recorded declining traffic.
Additionally, the report of iPrice recorded the most significant change in the ranking of Sendo. Its traffic has increased by 10 per cent to 28 million from 25.3 million, enabling Sendo to set foot into the top four.
Sendo was also the only platform in the top five experiencing a rise in traffic, narrowing the gap between Sendo and Lazada to 300,000 visitors a month.
Besides, new player Voso from Viettel Post Corporation has also achieved a spot in the ranking. Although ranking in the lower regions, Voso's traffic in June increased 12-fold compared to May.
Generally, in the second quarter of 2019, iPrice reported that teh average traffic of six of the top ten e-commerce companies declined over the previous quarter, meaning a light decrease of purchasing demand in the market.
However, this could be put down to the quarter being right after the Tet holiday, a major shopping holiday. Compared to the same quarter of 2018, when the average monthly traffic was 3 million, this year's traffic was only 0.4 million fewer only.
That means the Vietnamese e-commerce market has been developing stably, and demand for online shopping was not fully dependent on big promotions.
