Kelly Clarkson arrives in Vietnam

Kelly Clarkson will stage her show at the coronation night of Miss Vietnam 2014 beauty pageant at Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort on Phu Quoc Island on Saturday, the popular American singer told local media on Tuesday at the Sofitel Plaza Saigon in District 1.

After the meeting with local media, Clarkson departed for Phu Quoc to prepare for her upcoming performance where she will sing three songs, Stronger, Because of you and especially the song Moment Like This that helped bring her to the victory at the first season of American Idol in 2002.

The 32-year-old artist said that this was her first overseas performance after giving birth to her baby girl and she is preparing for a new album and a single which is expected to be released in January. Audiences will have different feelings once listening to her latest works as they reflect her new role as a mother. “Honestly, this has been my favorite album so far,” she said.

This year’s Miss Vietnam contest is being held from November 23 to December 6 with the participation of 40 contestants nationwide. The coronation night which will take place at the Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort’s musical fountain stage will be broadcasted live on VTV1, SCTV4 and SCTV7 at 8:05 p.m. on Saturday.

The beauty pageant which was initiated and first organized in 1988 by Tien Phong newspaper will grant a cash prize of VND300 million and a crown to Miss Vietnam. First and second runner-ups respectively pocket VND150 million and VND100 million. Other extra prizes include Miss Talent, Miss Sea, and Miss Ao dai (Vietnams long dress).
