The seminars were organised by the Department of Cooperative Economy, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in collaboration with Sustainable Food Systems Ireland of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine of Ireland.

The seminars aim to develop capabilities in agricultural cooperatives to improve governance, marketing, innovation, and quality management. They create a platform for knowledge exchange in agri-food cooperative development, with the aim of developing green, safe, climate-resilient, low-carbon and high-value-added agriculture.

Conor Finn, deputy head of Mission Embassy of Ireland

“The cooperative movement in Ireland has a proud history, dating back to the 1880s, before our political independence was achieved. Over many decades, cooperatives have played an invaluable role in our country’s economic development. Like Vietnam, Ireland recognises this important legacy and, at the same time the need to provide a modern legal framework and innovation ecosystems to help the cooperative sector grow,” said Conor Finn, deputy head of Mission Embassy of Ireland.

These seminars are taking place under the Ireland Vietnam Agri-food Partnership, funded by the Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam.

An MoU was signed in June 2024 between the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine of Ireland and the Ministry of Planning and Investment on enhanced cooperation in enterprise and cooperative development and agri-food innovation.
