Hong Thai Travel Services Ltd, one of the biggest travel companies in Hong Kong, wants to cooperate with Danang city and Vietnam Airlines to launch a huge promotion campaign on local media in a bid to lure more tourists to the coastal city.

The information was released by Tran Chi Cuong, an official of Danang City’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.

“Hong Thai would promote Danang on TV, newspapers and its website from July to September. Later on, we would take charge of ground services while Vietnam Airlines would bring Hong Kong media firms to explore the coastal city,” said Cuong.

The tour operator cannot estimate the number of tourists visiting Danang annually but it says travelers from the Chinese territory love the destination.

After discussions at Hong Kong international travel expo ITE and MICE earlier this month, both sides look set to start making plans.

The source reported that Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific plans to fly to Danang via charter flights first. However, the information has yet to be made public.

Charter flights departing from China’s Hangzhou will arrive in Danang from July 2. China’s Kunming-Danang charter flights will also be back in service from July 12.
