Forming a network of policies for innovative startups is necessary to better support newly-founded companies in Vietnam as current policies have been fragmented.

The workshop “Developing and researching a network of policies for innovative startups”
This was highlighted at the workshop on “Developing and researching a network of policies for innovative startups” hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology’s (MoST) Project 844 on July 10.

Speaking at the event, Pham Hong Quat, director of the National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialisation Development under the MoST, said that after a few years of implementing Decision No.844/QD-TTg supporting the ecosystem for innovative startups approved by the prime minister, a string of policies have been developed.

However, development has so far been unsynchronised, causing overlaps between the ministry’s policies and those mapped out by startup-supporting centres under other authorities as well as training and education institutions.

Therefore, forming a network in researching and developing policies specialised in the operation of startups that would involve most parties would be a great boost to policy efficiency. “The workshop is the first step of this progress. Accordingly, the main contents are missions and solutions for 2021-2025.”

At the workshop, scientists and experts discussed issues related to the development of an innovative startup ecosystem; building a network of startup support organisations at the ministerial, branch, central, and local levels; implementing mechanisms and policies to promote startups and innovation; strengthening linkages between the state and the business sector; national and local innovation support policies in 2021-2025; improving research capacity and applying it to the practice of entrepreneurship and innovation at institutes, educational and training institutions, startup support organisations in ministries, branches, and localities.

The event was attended by nearly 300 experts, scientists, representatives of local authorities, universities, and research institutions, as well as businesses like DUCAPITAL Holding, LinkStar Event & Communication, and more than 1,000 other delegates through an online meeting.
