Festival promotes UNESCO heritage values

A festival will be held in Quang Nam province from June 21-26 to popularize the cultural values of UNESCO-recognised heritage sites in the locality.

Located in central Vietnam, Quang Nam is home to three world heritage sites, namely Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, and Cu Lao Cham global biosphere reserve.

Major highlights of the festival will include an exhibition on the Vietnam-ASEAN Cultural Heritage Space, the 3rd International Choir Competition, and the 2013 Miss Ethnic Vietnam pageant.

The festival, the fifth of its kind, also encompasses the Art Festival for Vietnamese Ethnic Minority Groups, a Cham Culture Festival at the My Son Sanctuary, and a recreation of early 20th century nighttime life in Hoi An ancient town. 

The province, in collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies, will host an international intangible cultural heritage preservation conference, a seminar promoting cultural values in tourism development, and an investment forum on Quang Nam province’s desired green growth.

They will also host a meeting between diplomatic corps representatives and local leaders, and trade fairs in the central and central highlands regions.

The Vietnam National Administration of Sports and Physical Training and Quang Nam will run national beach football, golf, martial arts, and rowing tournaments, 

The province will offer a special series of tours of traditional brocade weaving villages and the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
