Themed on promoting tradition, solidarity, creativity, and integration while building a strong association for the happiness of women and prosperity of the nation, the 13th National Women’s Congress evaluated the women’s movement and union activities over the past five years and outlined the tasks and orientations for the 2022-2027 tenure.
During the two-day event on March 11-13, five major discussions were held, including developing Vietnamese women in the digital economy, fostering the value of Vietnamese families, and building the political system and social advocacy for gender equality. Ha Thi Nga, president of the Vietnam Women’s Union, highlighted the significance of the event, saying it was a great festival for Vietnamese women nationwide and marking the development of the women’s movement and the Vietnam Women’s Union.
According to the performance report of the union for the current tenure, despite being heavily affected by the global economic recession and the pandemic, Vietnamese women are still eager to learn and be creative in productive work, contributing to the achievements of innovation and development of the country.
The programmes organised by women’s unions at all levels, such as “Million gifts for love”, “For the value of women”, and “Resilient Vietnam”, have contributed to the success of the fight against the pandemic and natural disasters, Nga said.
Besides that, the advocacy and support of women in business startups, economic development, and environmental protection have prospered.
The material and spiritual life of women has been improved step by step, while the roles of women in family and society have been increasingly enhanced. Women also actively participate in social activities, spreading the spirit of kindness in volunteer activities. Women’s work and gender equality have made great progress and achieved many important achievements, according to Nga.
The event determined the key tasks for the next five years in developing Vietnamese women in the new era through innovating the mode of operation with a focus on IT application. The Vietnam Women’s Union also set a goal that by 2030, on the 100th anniversary of its establishment, its position as a pioneer working for women’s happiness will be cemented, creating regional and international influence, and contributing to the realisation of the country’s development goals.
