Conflagration in $18.4 million Song Than 2 Industrial Park

The fire started at Pan Pacific Logistics JSC’s storage in Song Than 2 Industrial Park. According to initial statistics, after more than 10 hours, the fire burned thousands of square meters of the total area of nearly 20,000 square meters of warehouses. Burned assets include wood furniture, packaging, and grocery items. The fire did not take human casualty, but great damage to property estimated in the range of VND-billions, according to congan.com.vn.

On the same day, Pan Pacific Logistics posted a notice on the company website about the fire without clearly mentioning the damage wrought by the incident.

According to the initial information, at around 7 AM on April 11, there was a loud explosion at Pan Pacific Logistics JSC’s warehouse in Song Than 2 Industrial Park and a frozen food storage caught fire. The workers were unable to extinguish the fire which spread quickly and urgently informed the authorities.

Many containers caught fire

As recorded from the field, towering fires and think columns of smoke covered the scene, and 20,000 square metres of warehouses collapsed, the fire spread to many cars containing frozen goods and warehouses.

Due to the great fire, more than 300 firefighters mobilised 46 fire engines to the scene.

By 10 AM on April 11, the Police Department of the Public Security Department of Binh Duong province and Di An town brought the conflagration under control.

Song Than 2 Industrial Park has an area of 217.59 ha with a total investment of VND423.28 billion ($18.4 million) invested by Dai Nam JSC and put into operation in 1996 in Di An commune, Binh Duong province.

Pan Pacific Logistics provides warehousing services and related logistics services, such as distribution, transportation, freight forwarding, and international multi-modal transport. According to testimony, the company whose property caught fire at the storage was recently put into operation in Song Than 2 Industrial Park. The cause of the incident is currently being investigated.
