With a continued focus on evolving technology and sustainable practices, in its largest pilot to date, Carlsberg Group on June 22 revealed a trial of its new fibre bottle, putting the bio-based and fully recyclable beer bottle into the hands of consumers for the first time.

At Phu Bai Brewery in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, one of Carlsberg’s largest breweries in Southeast Asia, production assemblies are modernised to produce high-quality items, enlarging the scale of production and utilising advanced technology in Carlsberg’s brewing techniques.

With the addition of the Phu Bai facility’s productivity of 360 million litres per year, the overall production capacity of Carlsberg Vietnam can cover the demand of all central provinces and contribute to the growth of the domestic beer industry. Not only is Phu Bai Brewery superior to Carlsberg Vietnam’s former breweries in terms of technology and sustainability features, it is also one of Carlsberg’s most energy-efficient factories around the world.

The state-of-the-art facility has enabled Carlsberg Vietnam to continuously revamp its products. Last year, it announced a comprehensive revamp of the Halida brand, giving the products both a new recipe and new packaging that takes consumers’ beer experience to a higher level of freshness.

Sustainability has been a guiding light of Carlsberg’s operations. Together with business activities, over the span of three decades, Carlsberg Vietnam has engaged in several long-term programmes, accompanying Vietnam in enriching its local culture, most notably in Central Vietnam.

This year, able to return to cultural and entertainment activities, the Huda brand became part of “Asia’s longest dinner table in the Central region”. This programme includes a variety of interactive activities under the framework of Hue Festival 2022, and ended with a record-breaking party held at the Phu Van Lau area of Thua Thien-Hue on June 26. The initiative is expected to extend Huda’s relentless effort to spread central pride.

This event is one of the main activities during Hue Festival 2022, which is themed on cultural heritage with integration and development. Being the main sponsor of the festival for over 20 years, Huda honours the precious values of the ancient capital through a variety of cultural and entertainment activities.

Onno Rombouts, managing director of Carlsberg Vietnam said, “We are very excited that life is back to normal. With summer approaching, now is the time to enjoy and celebrate together these unique activities from Huda. We are grateful to continue to build on the profound relationships we have built for the last 30 years in Central Vietnam, and look forward to bringing even more great experiences to people’s lives.”

Senior marketing director Branimir Bratanov added, “For the first time, Huda and the central people are working together to create a continent-level record with the longest ever table – more than one kilometre long. However, more important than the achievement, we hope to create a joyful and memorable experience that will stir up this summer in the region. This is a chance for Huda to bring central people closer as well as honour the idyllic natural beauty and precious values of the region.”

Carlsberg was one of the first Danish multinational companies to enter Vietnam, making its first investment in 1993. In 2013, the fully dedicated Carlsberg Vietnam organisation was established, including representative offices nationwide and a brewery located in Central Vietnam. Carlsberg Vietnam’s brands include 1664 Blanc, Carlsberg, Tuborg, Huda, Festival, and Halida.
