Big Brother fever begins with VND2 bil. home up for grabs

The popular reality show Big Brother (Nguoi Giau Mat) is seeking candidates who fancy their chances of passing the two-month challenge isolated in a house from the outside world to win a home worth VND2 billion.

The show, which debuted in 1999 in Europe, has been produced in 40 countries and screened in over 100 countries. It is a challenge for a group of 12 strangers aged between 20 and 34 coming from different walks of life to be housemates in a large constructed house with no cell phones, Internet or other communication devices. Contestants are monitored by in-house television cameras as well as personal audio microphones 24 hours a day.

The winner who passes weekly eliminations and is the last housemate standing will receive a house worth VND2 billion.

The show is a good chance for participants to deal with new experiences in their lives such as being isolated from the outside world, living together with strangers and solving challenges and to win the love of other housemates and audiences to stay in the game.

“The production of this show is also a big challenge for me and the crew as we have to film, edit and broadcast it for 65 consecutive days,” said the show’s director Nguyen Quang Dung.

Auditions start in Nha Trang and Danang on September 8, Dalat on September 11, Haiphong on September 13, HCMC on September 14-15 and Hanoi on September 28.

The show was brought to Vietnam by VTV6 and BHD Company with the copyright of Dutch-based international television production firm Endemol. It will be aired in mid November on VTV6.
