The first IZ approved by Bac Giang is Yen Son-Bac Lung IZ in Luc Nam district, which is oriented to be a multi-industry general IZ. This IZ will specialise in welcoming enterprises in manufacturing electronics, refrigeration, mechanics, high-tech machiner, and equipment, as well as environmentally-friendly consumer goods (excluding projects in the textile-garment and leather-shoes industries).
The second one is the 337-hectare Yen Lu IZ in Yen Dung district. It is also oriented to be a multi-industry IZ focusing on manufacturing and processing with hi-tech and environmentally-friendly projects.
The third is Tan Hung IZ which will cover an area of 105.3ha in Lang Giang district, and the fourth is the expansion project of Quang Chau IZ located in Viet Yen which will gain an extra 90ha in area.
Explaining the expansion of Quang Chau IZ, Bac Giang People’s Committee announced that since the IZ was established, it attracted 47 investment projects and has reached full occupancy. 40 of these projects are invested by foreign enterprises with a total capital value of $2.8 billion and the remaining seven are invested by domestic enterprises with VND2.23 trillion ($96.96 million).
At present, numerous large investors expressed intentions to hire land in Quang Chau IZ to establish manufacturing facilities and many are in negotiations to lease land. Thus, expanding Quang Chau IZ is urgent and important task.
Developing these four IZs, particularly expanding Quang Chau IZ, will promote the province's industrial development goals by attracting large high-tech projects, creating jobs, and increasing the state's budgetary revenue.
Bac Giang currently has six IZs with a total area of 1,460ha. Five of these are already in operation with a total area of 1,063ha.
The province currently has 32 industrial clusters and is planning to develop an additional 23 new IZs, IZ-urban-service area complexes with a total area of 6,805ha and 57 industrial clusters with an area of 2,563ha.
