On September 16, Agilent Technologies announced that existing customers of the former Varian Inc., acquired by Agilent, had signed multi-year service contracts for their atomic spectroscopy instruments.

These customers are from Vietnam’s pharmaceutical, academia and research industry, ranging from government and commercial laboratories, academia and research firms for a wide variety of applications including pharmaceutical, food, environment and textile testing. These instruments are used for chemical and bio-analysis and electronic measurement.

Since the integration of Varian into Agilent in late 2010, Agilent and its distributor of atomic spectroscopy instruments in Vietnam, DKSH Technology Co., Ltd. have been actively engaging with customers of Varian’s atomic spectroscopy instruments, getting to understand their needs and responding to their requests.

DKSH Technology has also offered Agilent Preventive Maintenance Service contracts to help users of the company’s instruments maintain peak performance and extend the instruments’ useful life.

“With Vietnam gaining momentum in biotechnology, we find that the laboratories and researchers in Vietnam are applying their instruments on more tests. As such, the focus on speed, reliability and accuracy continue to unabated. To ensure that our customers’ instruments remain in tip-top condition, Agilent together with DKSH Technology’s professional technical staff offer customers services contract,” said Gordon Tai, country manager, Life Sciences & Chemical Analysis, Agilent Vietnam.

Tai explained that 60 per cent of instrument failure is caused not by functional breakdown, but by a lack of preventive maintenance. A regularly scheduled programme of preventive maintenance is important to the laboratories’ success as it would help enhance instruments’ sensitivity and precision thereby increasing accuracy of their results, comply with regulatory requirements or meet quality accreditation standards, and importantly, extend the useful life of these instruments.

In Vietnam, DKSH Technology’s technical team members have received regular training by Agilent to ensure that they deliver quality services for customers using the company’s atomic spectroscopy instruments.

The companies who have signed with Agilent for these service contracts include Vinacontrol, SGS, Bureau Veritas Vietnam, Dong Nai Preventive Medical Center and Vinh Phuc Center of Soils and Fertilizers.
