The celebration honors the independence and freedom of Hungary and marks 74 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Gábor Lehőcz, consul general of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the event was an important occasion to review the achievements the two countries have made over the years. The Vietnam – Hungary relationship is not only a diplomatic relationship, but also a special friendship between the two people.
Extending his warmest congratulations to the government and people of Hungary on this occasion, Le Minh Triet, president of the association said, "Today, we celebrate not only Hungary's National Day but also the enduring relationship between Vietnam and Hungary. We are proud of our two nations' successful cooperation in many fields and wish to continue expanding cooperation to bring practical benefits to both sides. Vietnam considers Hungary an important partner in economic development and cultural exchange."
Triet noted that the friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary have continuously developed over the decades, with connections in areas ranging from economics, culture, and education to science and technology.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Hungary last January reinforced the trust and cooperation between the two countries, especially in economics, trade, and investment. Prime Minister Orbán considers Vietnam a potential major market for Hungary in Asia-Pacific. Both sides emphasized the importance of the EVFTA and promoting Vietnamese goods, particularly agro-forestry-fishery products, in the Hungarian market, while Vietnam is ready to support Hungarian entering ASEAN goods.
Educational cooperation is a bright spot in the countries' relations, with Hungary granting 200 annual scholarships to Vietnamese students, demonstrating friendship and concern for the younger generation. Additionally, other cooperation projects, such as a water treatment plant in Quang Binh and a civil registration system in Haiphong, have brought practical benefits to communities, deepening bilateral relations.
