Vietnam's M&A Forum 2021 is taking place in both offline and online formats

Vietnam M&A Forum 2021 has opened this morning at Mai House Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and virtually via Zoom, promising lively discussions on the upcoming opportunities post-pandemic. It is also live streamed at the fan page and online portals of Vietnam Investment Review and its sister publications.

Themed “Time to strike”, the 13th Vietnam M&A Forum will delve into M&A opportunities for large-scale domestic corporations as well as investors from the likes of Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore. It will also look into the prospects of high-potential industries such as technology, financial services, retail, real estate, energy, and more.

After nearly two years of disruption by the COVID-19 pandemic, investment flows are just around the corner to help M&A opportunities explode. According to KMPG estimates, the global value of M&A deals could reach $6 trillion by the end of the year, as businesses continue to utilise affordable capital investment and the prospects in recovering from the pandemic. Along with global trends, M&A activities in Vietnam are forecast to rise as demand is likely to help the market spring back into action.

In the first 10 months of 2021, Vietnam has attracted $8.8 billion in total M&A deals, representing a 17.9 pe rcent growth compared with the whole of 2020, or a 13 per cent growth compared to pre-pandemic 2019, while the number of deals slightly declined.

Addressing the forum, Le Trong Minh, editor-in-chief of VIR and head of the Organising Board of Vietnam M&A Forum, said that many M&A buyers, sellers, and consultants are going through quite busy times to clinch deals in Vietnam. It is expected that the market will witness an explosive increase in both the number of M&A deals and value post-pandemic as Vietnam is one of the bright spots attracting the attention of international investors.

He said, "Vietnam M&A Forum 2021 will explore how the cash flow will help propel the development of Vietnam's M&A market in the coming time. What are the areas that investors are most interested in? What conditions and prerequisites are needed to spark the boom? These and as other interesting topics will be discussed by high-profile speakers and panellists at the forum."
