Dung emphasised that the Party and State of Vietnam pay much attention to the prevention and combat of corruption, a constant struggle that needs synchronous, drastic and long-term measures to increase the transparency of Government procedures and uphold the punishment of offences, he said.
As a neighbour of the Philippines that shares ASEAN membership, Vietnam attaches much importance to nurturing multi-faceted co-operation with the Philippines for mutual interest and the development of both countries, said the PM.
Applauding the co-operation between the two inspectorates, Dung affirmed his support for the Philippines’ Office of Ombudsman and the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam, and their effective implementation of agreements reached during Morales’ visit.
Morales briefed Dung on the results of her talks with her Vietnamese counterpart, Inspector General Huynh Phong Tranh. She described the newly-signed memorandum of understanding on co-operation between the two sides as a firm foundation for friendly co-operation between the two agencies.
The Filipino ombudsman asserted that her agency wants to further boost co-operation with the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam and is willing to work with the Vietnamese side, so that the two parties can study each other’s experience in the fight against corruption.
