The AVAC-V6 FMD Emulsion Type O, developed by AVAC, a member of the Rural Technology Development Group, has been certified by the MARD’s Department of Animal Health.
MARD Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong said that the FMD is a dangerous, highly contagious disease that could cause huge economic losses. Therefore, Vietnam’s success in producing the vaccine for the first time is extremely significant to the country’s animal husbandry industry.
Cuong urged the Department of Animal Health to work with the producing company to devise plans for effective distribution of the vaccine, and work to improve the quality of the vaccine and reduce its cost.
He also asked the department to join hands with the MARD to build a safe zone against the disease.
Vietnam’s husbandry sector needs to build plans to improve the vaccination in some key localities in the coming time, which will help the country’s animal products to attain sustainable export markets, he said.
The success of producing the FMD vaccine is expected to help Vietnam better prevent diseases in animals, increase the rate of vaccinated livestock, and save millions of US dollars for farmers and the state budget, towards the eradication of the disease.
