TBC-Ball Beverage Can Vietnam has opened its plant in Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP).

Covering eight hectares, the Binh Duong province plant will have an initial annual production capacity of 850 million cans, mostly supplying contracted customers in Vietnam as well as exporting beverage cans to neighbouring countries. The total investment of the plant is about $50 million.
Also, Fujikura Fiber Optics Vietnam announced the official operation of its second factory at VSIP I. The one hectare expansion of Fujikura Fiber Optics Vietnam was kicked-off since the success of its first plant in VSIP I from 2001. This second project will continue its manufacturing specialised in fiber optic components used in telecommunication and data communication systems with the high technology transferred from Fujikura Group in Japan and globally.
In the first half of the year 2012, the VSIPs have attracted an additional  $468 million in total registered capital, an increase of 60 per cent compared to the same period last year, reaching 156 per cent of the $300 million target of this year. Moreover, newly-registered enterprises and expanded-capital enterprises have already implemented their projects, especially large scale ones.
A VSIP representative said: “Though facing curtain difficulties due to the global economic downturn, the foreign direct investment (FDI) landscape at VSIP in the first half of the year 2012 keeps positive. The number of new projects is not higher than last year. However, the number of projects larger in land size and registered capital is much higher. It proves the fact that the effectiveness of FDI inflows has increased, whereas capacity per each hectare of land has also been improved. This trend meets the provincial policy which aims to lure more high technology FDI enterprises into Binh Duong.”
