Oxalis Adventure Tours' photo is fast becoming a symbol for the summit |
According to the department, this is a golden opportunity to boosting tourism in the province.
The representative of the Quang Binh Department of Tourism said, “All eyes are on the summit and Vietnam, which is a great chance to broadcast images of the country to the whole world. Quang Binh is an attractive destination, including the iconic Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and Son Doong Cave, which are two of Vietnamese most breathtaking landscapes. Quang Binh will offer reporters attending the summit several tourism products completely free of charge.”
The department will also enter into co-operation with the Quang Binh Department of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to disseminate information to nearly 4,000 reporters attending the summit as well as work with international press agencies to promote tourism. Currently, clips, trailers, and the most impressive images of Quang Binh are posted on the MoFA’s official website and are provided to international press agencies.
Visitors have been posting photos of holding the three flags of the US, North Korea, and Vietnam up at Son Doong Cave, En Cave, and Tien Cave on Facebook and Twitter.
One such picture of a group of visitors captured by Oxalis Adventure Tours on February 15, was used in an Associated Press (AP) article on the summit and was widely shared on social networks. Later on, world-leading press agencies like The Washington Post, ABC News, MSN, and others reposted the article.
The Quang Binh Department of Tourism will carry out programmes to promote the province as a tourism destination in Korea, Japan, Australia, and European countries in 2019.
