Panasonic scholarships continue 18-year journey

Panasonic Vietnam organised the Panasonic Scholarship 2021 award ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on April 14, granting 15 scholarships to excellent students studying full-time at universities across the country.

After 18 years, the total value of the scholarships awarded in Vietnam has surpassed $2.3 million.

Despite the challenges, the programme was successfully organised last year, setting a new record with 500 applicants from nearly 65 universities nationwide.

The scholarship programme offers each student financial support of $1,300 for one school year, aiming to support those who are constantly striving to improve themselves by showing outstanding performance and contributing to the development of the country.

The winning students are also provided with practical opportunities to experience a professional working environment and new technology through internships at Panasonic Vietnam Group companies. Various online training sessions are also offered to help students develop their communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.

When receiving the scholarship, Nguyen Le Nhu Quynh, a final-year student at Ho Chi Minh City Foreign Trade University said, "The programme has financially supported me, allowing me to focus on studying and achieving good results at school, while giving me the opportunity to develop. At the same time, it helps to connect students across the country. All the students were inspired by Panasonic's philosophy and its desire to contribute to society.”

Pursuing the business philosophy of social responsibility set forth by its founder more than 100 years ago, Panasonic has made a commitment to contribute to the sustainable development and prosperity of Vietnam through its corporate activities, focusing on education and the environment.

Some noteworthy programmes include planting more than 250,000 trees in 10 provinces and cities in the annual Panasonic for a green Vietnam tree-planting programme, creating the Panasonic Risupia Vietnam playground to stimulate students' passion for science and technology, and initiating a battery exchange programme in which used batteries of all kinds are collected and exchanged for Panasonic's green batteries.
