Panasonic honoured with the Best Hygiene Technology Refrigerator Award |
During its 50 years of presence in Vietnam, Panasonic is positioned as a leading electronic brand with state-of-the-art products and an enthusiast in community initiatives. Panasonic envisions to transform into a wellness solutions provider from its original brand positioning of a consumer electronics company in the next 50 years. Developing hygienic products is a critical step in realising this strategy to deal with air pollution and food safety that is a concern across the community.
“We are honoured to receive The Best Hygiene Technology Refrigerator Award by both readers and the Tech Awards’ Board of Judgement, which is a great encouragement for our new journey,” said Azuma Yusuke, head of marketing, refrigerator and washing machine, Panasonic Vietnam.
Panasonic has surpassed many electronic brands nominated for this category thanks to its unique and advanced antibacterial technologies applied in the company’s modern refrigerators.
Applied in the -3 Celsius degree soft freezing case, Blue Ag+ enables food to be fresh for 7 days eliminates 99.99 per cent of bacteria without defrosting |
In 2018, Panasonic adopted the antibacterial and odour purification Nanoe-X technology from air conditioners to high-end refrigerators. Nanoe-X are nano-sized ion particles generated from moisture in the air with 4.8 trillion (-OH) radicals. These ion particles spread through the air inside the refrigerator, reliably reaching bacteria and viruses, allowing (-OH) radicals to transform virus proteins to deactivate and inhibit the growth of bacteria and virus in the air.
Especially, Nanoe-X is able to weaken bonds in pesticide on the surface of fruits and vegetables, allowing pesticides to be washed away easily with water, eliminating odours and 99.99 per cent of mould and bacteria. Therefore, it is safe and hygienic for fridge users.
Blue Ag+ generates a strong bacteria killer, OH radicals, through a reaction between silver Ag ions and UV-A light. The OH radicals work with the hydrogen molecules of the bacteria to transform OH radicals into water and eliminate bacteria.
The Blue Ag+ technology is utilised in the -3 degrees Celsius soft freezing case, which makes this feature outstanding and unique for Panasonic’s fridges (PrimeFresh Blue Ag+ freezing at -3 degrees Celsius). PrimeFresh Blue Ag+ eliminates 99.99 per cent bacteria, enabling food to be fresh for seven days without the need for defrosting. Another application of Blue Ag+ is found in the cold wash hygiene for bacteria elimination in Panasonic washing machines.

Ag Clean technology applies the antibacterial power of silver ions (Ag+) coated the surface of the refrigerator’s inside walls to keep the refrigerator free of bacteria and provide cleaner, constant air circulation for food that directly contacts the surface of fridge inside walls.
According to research studies, silver ions in Ag Clean technology can deactivate the respiration of bacteria cells, limit and inhibit the generation of bacteria from food, and prevent the spread of odours inside the refrigerator. Therefore, the food is not only preserved fresh and delicious but also ensures the health of all family members.
Panasonic refrigerators are also known for their convenient antibacterial water dispensers. Users can get cool water from the external water dispenser, instead of opening and closing the refrigerator door many times.
The highlight of this feature is that the container is made of special antibacterial materials, does not contain BPA (carcinogen), effectively eliminating odours with carbon filtration. Especially, it has the largest capacity of its kind with up to 3 litres.
