The annual tree planting programme "Panasonic for a green Vietnam" has been consistently implemented since 2013. In which, Panasonic focuses on joining hands with the government and local authorities to protect and develop plantation areas as an effective way to reduce CO2 emissions.
This year, the programme supports Tuyen Quang province for the first time. The province has a large area and conditions suitable for forestation. In addition, local leaders and people are very active in sustainable forest protection and development activities. Being among the top three localities in the country in terms of forest coverage (after Bac Kan and Quang Binh), Tuyen Quang plays a very important role as a green lung of not only the north but also the whole country. Implementing forestation in Tuyen Quang is deemed an effective contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and increasing the oxygen reservoir for Vietnam.
With that in mind, Panasonic donated 110,000 hybrid acacia and eucalyptus trees in the protected forest of Son Duong district in Tuyen Quang province, with an aim to protect one of the largest green areas in the north. This is the first year that the programme has donated trees for protected forests with trilateral socialisation: Panasonic provided the trees for plantation, and local people take charge of nurturing these under the management of the local authorities.
Also in the programme, Panasonic donated 28 garbage containers to rural communes to support local waste treatment and convey the message of environmental protection.
After eight years of continuous implementation, Panasonic has donated more than 250,000 trees to 10 cities and provinces throughout the country |
With the expert advice and support of the CRES and MONRE, after eight years of continuous implementation, Panasonic has donated more than 250,000 trees to 10 cities and provinces throughout the country. This annual corporate social responsibility activity of Panasonic not only brings direct benefits to the local community but also contributes to the sustainable development of the country.
This year also marks the Panasonic Vietnam’s half-century business in Vietnam. For the next 50 years, Panasonic has declared its business direction, aiming to pioneer in human-oriented technology and propose solutions to critical social problems, as well as to bring a healthy, safe, and comfortable life to Vietnamese people.
Marukawa Yoichi, general director of Panasonic Vietnam shared that, “With the Environmental Vision of Panasonic Corporation to 2050, in which the energy generated is greater than the energy used, we focus on energy-saving activities and energy efficiency, generating more clean energy while reducing CO2 emissions. In addition, our new business vision for the next 50 years aims to make a more solid contribution to Vietnamese people‘s health, safety, and quality of life, while solving the country's social problems in the new social context.”
