The programme was held by Panasonic Vietnam in collaboration with the Communication Centre of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Management Board of Nui Chua National Park in Ninh Thuan province.
Panasonic Vietnam has led numerous initiatives in response to the Prime Minister's request to assist Vietnam's sustainable development. The group realises its Green Impact commitments with the aim of reducing 300 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2050, equivalent to about one per cent of the total global emissions.
The “Live Wellness, Contribute Green with Panasonic" initiative is a significant campaign for Panasonic as it marks the beginning of the company’s new chapter in Vietnam over the next fifty years. Panasonic continues to develop new solutions to create a healthy, convenient, and happy life for Vietnamese customers.
The programme lasts from November 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. For each Wellness Solution product sold, Panasonic will plant one tree to develop Vietnam's forests. After successfully participating in the programme and activating the electronic warranty registration, customers will receive a tree code to track the planting progress and the growth journey of the tree for the following 3 years.
Through the programme, Panasonic will organise interactive activities to spread the message of “Live Wellness, Contribute Green with Panasonic" to the public. In addition to purchasing products from Panasonic's Wellness Solution range to regenerate forests, customers also have the opportunity to receive many attractive promotions by monitoring and participating in the activities on the brand’s social network sites.
Marukawa Yoichi, general director of Panasonic Vietnam said, “Through the programme, we hope to encourage a huge number of people – particularly the younger Vietnamese generation – to live a healthy lifestyle and promote environmental responsibility.”
The highlight of the programme is the partnership between Panasonic and prestigious Vietnamese afforestation groups and organizations. Accordingly, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment acts as a professional advisor. In addition, some specialised units will monitor the afforestation activities independently as the programme is under the close supervision of a third party to periodically perform tree health checks, report on tree growth factors, and gather pictures that will be made available to customers.
Nguyen Viet Dung, director of the Communication Centre for Natural Resources and Environment shared, “The afforestation programme is very meaningful as it contributes to Vietnam’s efforts to plant 1 billion trees nationwide. We highly appreciate the programme and Panasonic's efforts to partner with local authorities and communities in their efforts to foster the sustainable development of Vietnam."
The trees will be planted across 13 provinces from north to south. These areas, such as the Gianh River watershed and Phong Dien Nature Reserve, are extremely important in the lives of the locals and host numerous rare species of plants and animals. The plants are carefully chosen in accordance with scientific standards to maximise their capacity to absorb CO2.
Vice Chairman of Ninh Thuan People's Committee Le Huyen said, "Due to diminishing groundwater levels and depleted forests, Ninh Thuan has previously experienced lingering droughts. To improve people’s standards of living, it is important to ramp up afforestation activities in the area. I think the initiative with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources for the Environment will benefit the people of Ninh Thuan in the long run.”
As a pioneer in providing comprehensive wellness solutions, Panasonic not only strives to bring healthy and comfortable life to Vietnamese people but also proposes solutions to important social problems for the sake of the country's sustainable development.
With the cooperation and efforts of many units and organisations, the “Live Wellness, Contribute Green with Panasonic" programme promises to contribute significantly to the "Growing One Billion Trees - For a Greener Vietnam" campaign.
