Nestlé Vietnam, in collaboration with the Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam), held a training course on December 18 to promote occupational safety and hygiene for waste collection and recycling units.

The course welcomed of nearly 100 representatives at management level and professional department heads from companies and organisations within the industry.

This initiative is part of Nestlé ’s efforts to build a sustainable and responsible supply chain, in line with its commitment to fostering long-term, human-centred community development. The course also affirms Nestlé's emerging role in working closely with partners to build a zero-waste future.

Experts in the occupational safety and health field shared fundamental knowledge to help build safe and efficient working environments while safeguarding the health of workers in waste collection and recycling. The goal is to improve job quality, reduce workplace accidents, and enhance the working conditions for personnel involved in waste management.

In addition to technical content, the course provided updates on relevant legal regulations and international requirements. These updates are intended to guide businesses to fulfil environmental compliance and their labour rights responsibilities within the supply chain. The information helps waste management companies and organisations better understand their roles and obligations in fostering a safe, compliant, and responsible work culture.

Khuat Quang Hung, director of external relations and communications at Nestlé Vietnam, said, “Through this course, we aim to provide essential safety knowledge to workers and raise awareness of potential hazards among waste collection and recycling units. This contributes to protecting workers' rights and ensuring safe working conditions in waste collection and recycling activities. This is one of our top priorities to build a greener future.”

Nguyen Gia Huy Chuong, CEO of PRO Vietnam, said, “PRO Vietnam is committed to partnering with waste collection and recycling units to raise awareness and ensure occupational safety for the wellbeing of workers and the sustainability of Vietnam's recycling ecosystem. We believe that close collaboration among stakeholders is key to building an effective waste management system that protects the environment and communities.”

Quach Ngoc Duong, operations director of Vikohasan JSC, said, “The training event is not only a valuable opportunity for businesses to exchange and share experience about occupational safety and hygiene, but also plays an important role in raising the bar for Vietnam's recycling industry. The close collaboration between Nestlé Vietnam and PRO Vietnam will bring positive and long-lasting values ​​and support businesses to raise competitiveness, thereby contributing to their sustainable development goals. We hope for more similar initiatives in the future towards a circular economy.”
