NA Chairman holds fruitful talks with Polish and German leaders

During his talks with Speaker of the Polish Lower House (Sejm) Ewa Kopacz in Warsaw yesterday, Hung said his visit aims to further increase the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries and legislative bodies to open up new prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Hung suggested that the two sides strengthen exchanging their experiences and help each other train experts in all areas, as well as set up direct links among businesses and localities in both countries.

Regarding the two parliaments' ties, Hung expressed his hope that the two sides would foster cooperation and delegation exchanges at all levels, as well as strengthening connectivity among professional agencies, particularly the two Friendship Parliamentarians Groups.

The two nations should also further promote the sharing of lawmaking serving the transition and international integration process, especially in amending the National Constitution, he said.

He also recommended that the two sides strengthen coordination in multilateral parliamentary forums.

In response, Kopacz said the Polish Lower House always wanted to work closely with the Vietnamese NA to further improve the efficiency of cooperation between the two sides.

She also agreed with Hung's proposal on further promoting the exchange of delegations, sharing experience in legislation and constitution building, and supervising cooperation projects between the two governments.

After the talks, Hung and his entourage laid a wreath in the Polish Lower House to pay tribute to Polish parliamentarians who died during World War II and in the plane accident in Smolensk in 2010.

Meetings in Germany

Before heading to Poland, Hung met with the President of the German Federal Council, Winfried Kretschman, in Berlin.

He informed the German host of the outcomes of his talks with the President of the German Parliament, Nobert Lammert, and key activities of the Vietnamese legislature, especially in legislation, supervision and amendments to the 1992 Constitution.

The two countries agreed to continue boosting ties between their legislative bodies, work closely at multilateral parliamentary forums for the common benefit of both nations and contribute to fostering the bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Hung and other Vietnamese legislators attended the plenary meeting of the German parliament as observers.

Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics of Germany Philipp Roesler have pledged to work together to remove obstacles and create conditions to foster trade ties between the two countries.

They made the pledge at their meeting in Berlin as part of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung's official visit to Germany.

Both sides voiced their pleasure at the signing of government-level agreements on design, construction and operation of the "German house" in HCM City, and visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders.

Roesler informed his guest that a delegation of German economists would visit Viet Nam and attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the "German house".

For his part, Hoang asked Germany to further support the Viet Nam-European Union (EU) Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, and the building of a "Vietnamese house" in Berlin .

Both sides agreed to actively prepare for the German-Asia Pacific meeting that will be held in Ha Noi next year.
