The issue of slow progress was raised at the working session among Nguyen Tuan Tung, chairman of the Board of Members of National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and member units to discuss the construction schedule of the project.
The transmission line goes through three provinces namely Quang Ngai, Kon Tum and Gia Lai with a total length of 209 kilometres.
Nguyen Duc Tuyen, director of Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) which manages the project, reported that the problems arising during site clearance and the pandemic have held up implementation. Notably, numerous households have yet to agree over compensation and resettlement. Due to the impact of the pandemic, numerous orders for equipment and machines from overseas were delayed and foreign experts could not enter the country. In addition, from September to the end of October, there were numerous storms and tropical depression, causing landslides and floods.
Along with these difficulties, CPMB also reported on the latest steps ahead at the project. CPMB installed all steel columns, electrical insulation, conductors, optical cables, and lightning arrester to the project. On November 20, Indian experts entered Hanoi and will start to supervise the installation after the mandatory quarantine.
Nguyen Tuan Tung appreciated the efforts of the contractors and CPNB. However, he warned that in order to complete the construction on time, land clearance and compensation need to be accelerated.
Tung asked the design unit to assign staff to be present at the work from November 20 until the transmission line is energised to supervise the construction and deal with arising problems.
