Danang team won the second ticket to step into the national ‘Olympia for secondary school students’ finale slated to take place at the home city in April, 2013.

The central region finale took place in Quy Nhon city in southern coastal province Binh Dinh on December 16, 2012 among Danang, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa province  teams.

The Danang team outperformed right from the finale’s first round and outstandingly answered the key word in the crossword round when it won total 80 marks, prolonging the distance with two remaining teams.

In the central region finale, teams from Khanh Hoa and Binh Dinh provinces could not outrun the Danang team with deep and broad knowledge possession and excellent performance.

At the ending, the Danang team came first scoring 240 marks, Khanh Hoa team ranked second with 140 marks and Binh Dinh team in the third place with 110 marks.

“Failing at this central region finale did not depress me. I so admire the Danang team members for their outperformance. They are a weighty candidate at the national finale quiz-show,” said the Binh Dinh team leader.

Earlier, the team from Thai Nguyen province won the first ticket to join the national finale after succeeding at the northern region finale on November 25, 2012.
After the central region’s finale, the programme will select the best southern team to step into the national finale round.

Olympia for secondary schools’ programme is hosted in cooperation between Ministry of Education and Training’s Department of High School Education and LG Electronics Vietnam.

In this first trial run, “Olympia for secondary schools” will take place with the participation of representatives from 18 cities and provinces.

The first contest was launched on October 14, 2012 and will run until April 2013, before the finale of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Through the programme LG Electronics Vietnam will also award 72 scholarships for 18 secondary schools which represent 18 participated provinces. These scholarships are especially for poor families’ students who excel and have rich promise.
