In Ba Ria-Vung Tau, nearly 400 Citi colleagues, their families and friends on June 13 worked side-by-side with 200 local young volunteers on planting over 1,200 casuarina trees and cleaning up beach.
“On this day, we remind ourselves and those around us of the importance of giving back to the surrounding communities and realising the impact of our actions on the natural environment. Today, we are proud to enable the progress of the green movement and improve the lives of the local community,” said Natasha Ansell, Citi’s country officer for Vietnam.
The group later headed towards Long Hai Community Centre to distribute new school bags, notebooks and stationery to 50 poor children who have achieved academic excellence.
At the same time, another group reached out to approximately 200 orphans and disabled children at Long Hai Centre for Social Protection of Children to offer essential food items and other necessities.
Earlier, a similar programme took place on June 6 at Cuc Phuong National Park where over 220 volunteers galvanised their efforts to plant 50 trees, clean up areas that are used to house pangolins and turtles in Cuc Phuong National Park Conservation Centre, and presented new school facilities to 30 Muong ethnic minority children in Cuc Phuong commune.
