British University Vietnam (BUV) has introduced new undergraduate programmes that are awarded by prestigious universities in the UK, and announced a $3.7 million scholarship fund for 2024, fostering opportunities for local students to engage in an international-standard learning environment in Vietnam.

From the 2024-2025 academic year, BUV will offer six new undergraduate programmes, BSc (Hons) Business and Management, BSc (Hons) Economics and Management, BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BSc (Hons) Data Science and AI, BA (Hons) Games Art, BA (Hons) Professional Communication (Business, Design and Strategy), and one new specialism, BA (Hons) Contemporary Creative Practice - Animation.

Specifically, the programmes of Business and Management, Economics and Management, and Accounting and Finance will be awarded by the University of London, providing more study options for students in the fields of economics, business, and finance.

The entire curriculum and all examinations are designed and graded by the London School of Economics and Political Science, a federation member of the University of London and top-three ranked university in the UK – according to the University League Tables 2024. Established in 1836, the University of London is one of the oldest and largest universities in the UK, comprising 17 esteemed institutions.

For the Games Art programme, students will be equipped with professional knowledge related to game development tools, learning how to create game prototypes while gaining practical experience. The course is awarded by Staffordshire University, which is ranked seventh in the world for Game Design and Development and is one of the top 10 UK universities in terms of employment prospects.

Another offering awarded by Staffordshire University at BUV is Contemporary Creative Practice, specialising in Animation, which is designed for those interested in giving life to inanimate objects using both 2D and 3D techniques, as well as stop motion.

Awarded by the University of Stirling, the BSc (Hons) Data Science and AI degree focuses on training, knowledge, and skills related to data technology and analysis. Intuitive teaching models with a hands-on approach will help students learn how to develop new processes and confidently use technology in their professional fields.

The Professional Communication (Business, Design and Strategy) programme is awarded by Arts University Bournemouth – one of the leading universities in the UK’s creative industry. It has achieved a gold award from TEF and HEFCE for its excellent teaching frameworks.

Students will learn about practical and creative communication methods, combined with research on business strategies and design, to develop comprehensive communication solutions that meet a brand's marketing goals. This interdisciplinary approach prepares students for business strategy careers in the communications industry.

Speaking at a press conference on November 22,Professor Rick Bennett, BUV deputy vice-chancellor and vice president said, "The introduction of these programmes and specialism marks an important step forward for BUV as we are expanding. This is also our response to the Vietnamese economy and the government’s agenda in the Games, Technology, and Business and Communications sectors."

"The programmes are designed to keep up with market needs, equipping students with the essential skills they need to enter the workforce. We hope that they will open new doors for students, readying them confidently become global citizens in today’s world," he continued.

At the press conference, BUV also announced its 2024 Scholarship and Financial Aid Fund, with a total value of up to VND87 billion ($3.7 million). This will contribute to giving talented Vietnamese students more opportunities to pursue premium British undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in an international educational environment.

The scholarship fund includes many prestigious categories with 50-100 per cent tuition fee support such as the British Ambassador’s Scholarship, President’s Scholarship, and Dean’s Scholarship. Additionally, the Lion’s Heart Scholarship is awarded to talented young students from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them continue with their studies and strive for future success.

In addition, BUV offers Talent Scholarships for students with outstanding achievements in sport, culture, and the arts, as well as Key Partnership Scholarships for excellent students from BUV’s partner high schools. There are also many other financial support packages for outstanding students.

BUV is continuously expanding in all academic and operational areas to fulfil its pledge of aiding in the advancement of education in Vietnam. The goal is clearly demonstrated through its introduction of additional undergraduate programmes from UK universities, the expansion of its collaborations with new universities like Stirling and Arts University Bournemouth, and the enhancement of opportunities for local students through the 2024 Scholarship and Financial Aid Fund.

Earlier this year, the university announced a plan to expand its 5-star campus in Ecopark with a total investment of $165 million. The fully developed campus is expected to be completed in 2028 and accommodate up to 10,000 students.
