"This MoU is a significant milestone for the ACCA, supporting the innovation and advancement of vocational training in accounting and business in Vietnam, and reinforcing our commitment to the profession in this beautiful country," said Helen Brand, chief executive of the ACCA, in a speech on support for vocational education in Vietnam. "With the determination and strategic support that General Department of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) has shown in developing national vocational education and training, we strongly believe that together, we can create international study and work opportunities for vocational training students in Vietnam."

Brand also spoke of the quick development of the relationship between the ACCA and the DVET in the last 15 months. In February 2023, the ACCA signed an MoU with the DVET in Vietnam, encouraging colleges to embed the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business RQF Level 4 into their degree programmes.

"Vietnam's integration is getting deeper. The country is receiving numerous new advanced technologies, which requires improving the quality of human resources strongly and rapidly. The solution is to shake hands with international organisations and developed countries to bring experience into the vocational education system," said Pham Vu Quoc Binh, DVET's director general. "We believe that vocational training must build an open, flexible system, with international standards, inclusiveness. I really appreciate the collaboration of the ACCA and colleges to deliver new programmes, and technologies into education and training to improve quality and skill of accounting and human resources."

Pham Van Tien, vice chairman of the Vietnam Association for Vocational Education and Training and Social Work, said that compatibility and synchronisation were problems of current vocational education and training schools.

"There are problems in training programmes, teaching staff, and training equipment and methods. Therefore, it will be difficult for training institutions in integrating international training programmes," Tien said.

"The output quality is also an issue. A reputable international organisation in Vietnam has said that 60 per cent of graduates cannot do the profession they were trained for, including accounting and auditing. So working with the ACCA and the accounting and auditing profession is very good opportunity.

The MoUs signed mark a significant milestone in efforts to enhance vocational training in accounting and business across Vietnam. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in education, and is expected to see a positive impact on the future of vocational training in Vietnam.
