The government has issued various regulations about street food including a fine from VND500,000 (USD21.51) to VND1m to street food vendors who don't use gloves.

Resolution 115 about administrative fines on food safety will replace the old Resolution 178 starting from October 20.

According to the new resolution, violators will be fined immediately instead of being given warnings. The fines for organisations will be much higher than for individual violators. Regulations on compensation and remedy will also be detailed such as removing adverts or paying a fine that is equals to the value of the material evidences in cases they are disposed.

The maximum fine for individuals is kept at VND100m (USD4,300) and VND200m for organisations. However, other fines have been raised.

The fines for street food vendors who don't use gloves were raised from VND300,000-500,000 (USD13-21.51) to VND500,000 to VND1m. Those who fail to provide food safety certificates will be fined from VND20m to VND40m, much higher than the previous fines of VND300,000 to VND25m.

Facilities and individuals that don't apply for a certificate on food additives, utensils, packaging materials will be fined VND30m (USD1,300) to VND40m. The previous fines were VND15m to VND20m. A VND5m to VND7m fine will be applied to those who don't have pest control in their food storage areas.

More fines have also been included in the new resolution such as a VND80m (USD3,400) to VND100m fine for those who use banned chemicals and antibiotics.
