In its latest report, TDCX believes that Vietnamese SMEs are specifically seeking the expertise of cloud providers, system integrators, cybersecurity specialists, and digital platforms as they strive to grow their businesses in the digital era.
TDCX’s report aims to provide global tech providers with insights into the approach adopted by SMEs across ASEAN, including Vietnam, to fuel their growth in the digital economy, as well as their expectations from tech providers.
Vietnam has experienced rapid growth in its digital economy, with projections indicating that it will reach $57 billion by 2025, ranking second in Southeast Asia. SMEs, which constitute around 97 per cent of the country's enterprises, play a vital role in driving this growth and capitalising on the opportunities presented by technology.
However, the study uncovers that 75 per cent of these firms are still in the early stages of their digitalisation journey or have only digitalised a few functions. While this percentage is slightly higher than the ASEAN average of 70 per cent, it highlights the need for further progress in digital transformation.
Laurent Junique, CEO of TDCX, emphasises the shift in perspective post-pandemic, as going digital has transformed from a nice-to-have to a must-have.
"SMEs are now eager to catch up and are seeking the expertise of tech providers to accelerate their digital transformation efforts. This presents an opportune moment for tech providers to engage with them and support their digitalisation endeavours," Junique said.
Looking ahead, Vietnamese SMEs are prioritising data analytics and innovation capabilities over the next two years. To facilitate this digitalisation push, they are actively seeking partnerships with tech providers who possess strong technical skills (82 per cent), industry knowledge (67 per cent), and the ability to respond promptly (45 per cent).
Vietnamese small businesses' increasing reliance on external tech providers highlights the importance of collaboration in driving ambition and achieving sustainable growth in the digital economy.
