Under the theme connecting the world, the ROBOTACON WRO 2023 competition is co-organised by the Embassy of Denmark, Viet Tinh Anh JSC, and LEGO Education.

This year, the teams participating in the contest will be divided into groups with tasks under various topics based on current interests from around the world, such as marine life conservation, underwater infrastructure, port automation, and others.

According to the Danish ambassador Nicolai Prytz, he is very proud that the Embassy of Denmark is one of the co-organisers of ROBOTACON WRO 2023, the largest and most prestigious competition dedicated to science, technology, and education in Vietnam for students aged 6-19 years.

“I believe that this will be a fantastic playground for young Vietnamese people to learn the necessary skills for the 21st century, such as critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and technology. The competition also provides an opportunity for students to innovate and discover, thereby contributing to nurturing a generation that is ready to solve problems in the future,” said Prytz.

At WRO, students from different countries will compete and demonstrate their thinking and problem-solving abilities through robotics competitions and challenges.

Dang Ngoc, general director of Viet Tinh Anh JSC, which holds the copyright for the ROBOCON WRO competition in Vietnam, was delighted with this year's contest being held countrywide for the first time.

"Being expanded nationwide this year, this competition will definitely increase its chances of selecting more talented Vietnamese teams," Ngoc said.

Together with LEGO Education, Viet Tinh Anh strives to design STEM education packages that cover preschool to high school and meet the different needs of educational institutions.

“We believe that an educational approach that emphasises the role of practical lessons will help students become more confident, quickly allowing them to grasp and retain the knowledge they have learned,” Ngoc added.

This year, the ROBOCON WRO competition in Vietnam will have two qualifying rounds, one in Ho Chi Minh City with an expected 300 teams from the south and another in Hai Phong with around 200 teams from the north. The final round to find the best teams and contestants to represent Vietnam at the World Final in Panama will take place in Hanoi in August 2023.

Education Denmark and Vietnam have been cooperating closely within the education sector since 2005, when a 10-year programme to support Vietnam with a new learner-centred art curriculum for primary schools was introduced.

Under the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement signed between the two countries in September 2013, education continues to be one of the priority sectors for cooperation. Denmark has supported Vietnam in the areas of vocational training and life-long learning. For the past five years, Denmark has provided short-term scholarships for 700 Vietnamese government officials to attend study courses in the fields of food safety, public health, agriculture, and others.
