He said that VIR, the press office of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, has made important contributions to socioeconomic development and helped the country attract investment.

Themed “Renovated, creative, responsible Vietnamese press for the interests of the nation and people,” this year’s event attracted 85 press agencies and local journalists’ associations.

300 excellent reportages on environment, climate change, and natural disaster prevention in 2018, in addition to more than 80 publications, scientific articles, and press works have been displayed and introduced to visitors at the festival.
PM Phuc highlighted the great contributions of the press to the country’s socioeconomic development over the past decades. He described the press as a forum of the people, and it has been closely accompanying the Party and the government during all periods of the country’s history.
“The press needs to disseminate information quickly, accurately, objectively, and honestly about the Party and the state’s policies and people’s opinions,” he stressed.
Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Thuan Huu said that the festival is aimed at honouring the achievements of the press as well as enhance the exchange between journalists and the community.
