Phu Yen up for high-quality tourism |
Phu Yen, naturally endowed with nearly 200 kilometres of coastline and a great many attractions such as lagoons, beaches, mountains, lakes, and cultural heritage sites, boasts ideal conditions for the province’s tourism industry to take off. On entering Phu Yen, visitors have a chance to get close to nature and discover the distinctive culture of the people of the province.
Now, Phu Yen is planning to develop its tourism industry with specific targets and markets under its Tourism Development Strategy for next year. The province aims to attract tourists from Northeast Asian markets such as Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea, as well as from Southeast Asian neighbours like Cambodia, Laos, and north-eastern Thailand.
In addition, Phu Yen will also boost attraction of tourists from the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Russia, New Zealand, and the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the province is focusing on wooing domestic visitors from Ho Chi Minh City, and provinces in the southern coastal and Mekong Delta regions by both air and road. Besides this, Phu Yen is also paying special attention to luring tourists from the Central Highlands region, Hanoi, other northern provinces, and the central region.
In order to successfully lure in these tourists, Phu Yen is to concentrate on developing its special attractions, such as the islands, landscapes, and historical and cultural sites.
In addition, other tourism products will be closely linked with eco-tourism such as sightseeing, relaxation getaways, entertainment in mountainous areas, adventurous sports, lagoons, bays, lakes, and natural conservation parks.
With a vision until 2025, Phu Yen wants to make greater efforts to become one of the most important tourism spots in the country’s programmes for the central and Central Highlands regions. Accordingly, next year the province’s tourism product system will take a clearer shape, featuring many high-end products and activities.
For example, the product group related to sea resources will be found in Tuy Hoa city, and the Xuan Dai Bay-Da Dia Reef-Tu Nham area, along with their surrounding areas. The Da Dia Reef is a seashore area of uniformly inter-locking basalt rock columns located along the coast in An Ninh Dong commune in Tuy An district.
In addition, the product group pertaining to eco-tourism resources will be seen in the province’s western region including Van Hoa Plateau and its surrounding area, and the Hinh River.
Furthermore, Phu Yen province will concentrate on developing the cultural-historical tourism product group, with exploitation of the historical and cultural values of ethnic minority groups, craft villages, festivals, and culinary culture.
Development of tourism associated with meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions will also be highlighted, with this type of tourism pertaining to the tourism centres of Phu Yen, especially in Tuy Hoa city.
In the next five years more types of tourism products will become available in Phu Yen, such as yacht centres with high-end resorts and hotels, as well as modern entertainment amenities in service of the growing demand of tourists.
