The 12th plenum of the Party Central Committee (PCC) has wrapped up, with the election of an additional two members to the PCC’s Inspection Commission of the 12th tenure, including Nguyen Van Hung, member of the PCC, Party Secretary, and Chairman of the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum’s People’s Council, and Tran Thi Hien, head of the Department of General Affairs from the Inspection Commission.

Chaired by Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong, the PCC has decided on directions on personnel for the 13th National Party Congress and on the general election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2025 term.
The committee also decided on standards, quantity, and applications for delegates to the 13th National Party Congress and looked into other major issues. The congress is expected to take place in early next year.
Party General Secretary, State President Trong stated that the 13th PCC must be a united, pure, and strong collective having steadfast political mettle, good virtues, a strategic vision, and a creative mindset.
Members of the 13th PCC must be virtuous and lead commendable lifestyles, winning great trust from the public, cadres, and Party members. They must also be highly responsible, greatly devoted to work, and willing to sacrifice their personal benefits for the common sake of the Party and the whole country.
They must also be free from corruption and red tape, and not use their power to benefit themselves and their families. They must also resolutely fight against corruption and embezzlement. In addition, they must always keep and increase solidarity in the Party, and be ready to accept and impart criticism, and transparently assess and direct cadres.
They are also required to have a creative mindset and a vision so that they can partake in formulating the PCC’s directions and policies, and successfully directing and implementing the national development strategies.
The Politburo and Secretariat must gather outstanding officials of the PCC in terms of political mettle, morality, knowledge, sense of responsibility, will for combat, leadership and management capacity, and disciplinary and strategic vision and mindset.
Those with an inclination towards corruption, embezzlement, violations of principles of democratic centralism, and inefficiency, among others, must be resolutely expelled from the PCC, said Party General Secretary, State President Trong.
The 13th PCC needs the required number of personnel and structure to ensure comprehensive leadership, he went on, ordering more PCC members take on key positions in localities and sectors, especially the young, women, and ethnic minorities.
