The title of "Typical Vietnamese Business Woman – Golden Rose Award" is conferred to Vietnamese female entrepreneurs with the highest achievements. Nguyen Ngoc My (Sylvia Nguyen), CEO of Alphanam Investment JSC, an Alphanam Group subsidiary, was the youngest "rose of the era" to be named for this award.
The awarding ceremony of the Golden Rose Award took place on December 29, 2021 in Hanoi, honouring the "roses" with remarkable achievements in business. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Golden Rose Awards carried a special meaning for the awarded business women. The success of Nguyen Ngoc My and other "roses" will motivate Vietnamese women to start a business or raise their voice in business.
Initiated in 2006, the Golden Rose Award honours the tireless efforts of Vietnamese women and female entrepreneurs. With objective and transparent evaluation criteria and review process, this prestigious award is highly appreciated by domestic and foreign organisations. Currently, female entrepreneurs are making great contributions to the Vietnamese economy. According to statistics of the Vietnam Association for Women Entrepreneurs (VAWE), the number of Vietnamese enterprises owned by women has increased rapidly in recent years, from 4 per cent in 2009 to 21 per cent in 2011 and now 25 per cent – the highest in Southeast Asia.
According to a report by the Agency of Enterprise Development of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, women-owned and managed businesses over the past five years have contributed about 45 per cent to GDP, generated more than 5 million jobs, and contributed nearly 50 per cent of the country's economic growth annually.
At Alphanam Group, the ratio of male and female leaders is almost equal. Female leaders hold important roles in leading the group’s subsidiaries, managing and coordinating different fields. Nguyen Ngoc My, CEO of Alphanam Investment JSC, is currently the youngest female leader of Alphanam Group and also the youngest businesswoman to receive the Golden Rose Award in 2021.
